Blondie-My mom's friend's elder-husband has been disfellowshipped for adultery, reinstated, and reappointed 3 times, in the last 30 years or so. If the 20 year rule still applied, the math wouldn't work. But maybe if it had applied, transgressions 2 and 3 would not have occurred. 3 times. What a winner.
watctower has posted a $40,000,000 bond following montana's upholding of the nunez v watchtower verdict of 2018. punitive damages have been upheld, and wt has purchased the bond from travelers insurance (35m+ interest)-montana sc will rule later this year on the appeal.. .
The way a bond in an appeal works is that the appealing defendant (WTBTS) MUST deposit the actual judgment amount with the surety company for the duration of the appeal. Once the appeal is decided, the surety company distributes the funds in the bond to the prevailing parties as decided by the appellate court.
So they did have that cash. And currently they don't. That's a lot of money to be sitting in someone else's account for who knows how long. OK rank and file how do you feel about that? You gave them that money.
hey all,.
so i have recently seen quite a few jws that were former friends in our community.
i am always polite and say hello - although most will not acknowledge me.
I say this to younger ones that come to the door-that if they ever need to talk about leaving their religion and are afraid to talk to anyone about it, feel free to ring the bell again and ask for me.
But I never see them out in the neighborhoods anymore, only standing on the sidewalks at the parks and train station. And it's always the ones that are pretty old by now (70s plus).
I won't waste my time on the older ones. Instead I ask them what they think of cost of [insert whatever court ruling went against JWs in the last year that can easily be found on court websites via their smart phones...] and how they feel about their financial contributions paying for it.
i am an elementary school teacher of the fourth grade.
in times past, students would start learning cursive handwriting in third grade and by fourth should be transitioning to writing in cursive at all times.
as you might be aware, this has all but been taken out of the curriculum.
When I was in grades 4-5, our favorite part of the day was our last half hour or so, when the teacher would write a sentence on the board from Dr. Seuss and we would practice our cursive. We always left relaxed, de-stressed, smiling and re-set for the evening (probably at a meeting for me...).
I am 50 years old. I have been teaching high school for more than 25 years. My students today marvel that penmanship was part of our daily lessons and wish they could have had that instead of the academic pressures they faced even in 4th grade. If they ever forget to put their names on their paper, I write it for them with a classic flourish. They can't believe I could write like that when I was ten-that we all could. Some of them leave their names off their papers on purpose, just so I will write it for them (these are 17 and 18 year olds).
They don't even need to type into a keyboard any more, they all just take pictures of everything they need to remember, or speak into their phones.
I wonder what they used to say when people developed written language: the horror-no one will know how to memorize anything anymore.
yesterday i drove passed a town a couple of hours from my home and saw this kh under construction.
this is the first new design kh i've seen in washington state even though i would think by now another one or two have been built.
maybe not with their financial situation being the way it is.
This design looks like a bank or credit union to me.
That seems about right.
Why only sisters with minor children need provide information regarding their care? Why are they not concerned about the brothers with minor children going off and abandoning their parental duties? Wow.
so, apparently, there is an organization which provides structure, curriculum, etc.
for home-schooling of jw kids:.

Don't forget this one out of California. On it's face, not so obvious a dub school. But it is.
You have to check out the last course recommended for each of the four years of high school. This one takes the poor dubs money and then suggests that they hit up the public schools for Career/Technical or Music.
Now that's ironic. I got "marked," even though I wasn't baptized for participating in my high school's music offerings.
This school claims credentialed teachers plural. That's two. I know one that effectively only made about $7/hour for those "credentialed" services of grading all the papers that the parents were producing for their kids instead of actually teaching their children how to do it.
i remember around 2005, there was an announcement made from the platform that in a few weeks time we would have to remain at the end of the sunday meeting for a big announcement, directly from the society.. i remember all the murmuring, people thought maybe this was going to be related to armageddon.
everyone was excited, people were speculating.
only the po in each congregation had any idea what was going on, and they were frequently pestered for information, but sworn to secrecy, which only hyped things up even more.. then the meeting came, anticipation was in the air, the announcement started, you could hear a pin drop.
The first time I saw A Christmas Story, the scene where Ralphie got his LIttle Orphan Annie Secret Decoder, only to find out that the secret message was a commercial, I was reminded of all these "special announcements" that were just crappy commercials. An early ah ha for me as a teenager in the 1980s.
to quote someone near and dear: they should have built the whole kingdom hall out of the same thing they built the signs.... i had to wait nearly two weeks to get into the neighborhood to get these pictures for your voyeuristic interests...this is peanuts compared to the over 5,000 homes that were destroyed (this number includes individual units in large apartment complexes that were completely razed).
those pictures and videos are available in the media.
wine country is a community devastated..
